New Center Park Announces the Return of Friday Night Films and Events for Summer 2022
Full Summer Series of events begins with the first film
showing on Friday, June 3; doors open at 8 p.m.
DETROIT – It's almost summertime in Michigan and with good weather comes good times here in Detroit. New Center Park, operated by Midtown Detroit, Inc., is the place to be for creating memories and good times with a schedule full of free fun family-friendly activities all summer long, including the return of Friday Night Films and live theatrical performances from Black and Brown Theatre.
“It is a pleasure to be able to bring back the Friday Night Films at New Center Park this year,” said Sue Mosey, president of Midtown Detroit, Inc. “It has always been a very popular program for the park and a tremendous way to get the community together. We have a very exciting lineup this year for folks of all ages so it should be another great series and we are eager to see people turn out and enjoy a night under the stars.”
New Center Park, located on West Grand Boulevard at 2nd Avenue in Detroit’s Historic New Center District has become a summer staple in Detroit, and its movie nights and special events are the perfect way to spend a beautiful summer evening. Visitors can grab a chair or bring a blanket, enjoy some free popcorn and settle in for a film in the open-air theater for 13 weeks of movies every Friday night from June 3 to Aug. 26. Friday Night Films
New Center’s Friday Night Films series kicks off on June 3, with doors opening at 8 p.m. and movies starting at dusk. Any cancelations, if need be, will be shared on social media. The schedule of evening screenings this summer will be as follows:

Rapunzel by Black and Brown Theatre
Alongside the Friday Night Films there will be a 30-45 minute live theatrical performance of Rapunzel by Black and Brown Theatre July 29-31. The schedule for the live performances will be the following:
July 29 – Doors open at 7 p.m., performance begins at 8 p.m.
July 30 – First Show – Doors open at 1 p.m., performance begins at 2 p.m.
Second Show – Doors open at 3 p.m., performance begins at 4 p.m.
July 31 – First Show – Doors open at 1 p.m., performance begins at 2 p.m.
Second Show - Doors open at 3 p.m., performance begins at 4 pm.
